Meet out marketing guru Emma Patterson. This beautiful soul joined the Belle Armoire team earlier this year and we couldn’t be happier to have her as part of our team. She has been in the drivers seat steering our social media platforms, blogs, promotions and e-newsletters…and totally nailing it might I add! Emma took a few minutes out of her busy day to answer a little Q & A and here is what she had to say.
Emma wears Nobody Denim Siren Skinny Ankle Jeans.
You grew up in Orange, spent the past 8 years in Canberra and have just recently returned home to Orange. What do you love most about being back?
I’m living just out of town on so I’m really loving how spacious and peaceful that is! I often go for walks around the area and it has been wonderful to take in the beauty of the Orange countryside during the changing seasons. I also really love that we have such great food and culture around here! Orange has progressed so much since I left and it really has a lot of amazing places to eat as well as so many talented creative locals who bring some amazing music, art and ideas to our community.
We love having you as part of our team looking after our marketing including all our social media content. What is your favourite social media platform and why?
Thank you! I am absolutely loving being a part of the Belle Armoire team – I feel really lucky to be working in a place that has such a fun and vibrant energy about it! My favourite social media platform would definitely have to be Instagram – I think it’s because as a designer and creative person I’m attracted to the highly visual aspect of it. I also feel like it’s really the most powerful and efficient tool to get your product or message out there. As human beings we are highly sensory creatures and that’s where Instagram really excels. Using an image will always make a person connect much more immediately and effectively than plain old words on a page – like the saying goes “a picture is worth a thousand words!”.
Emma wears Spell Lotus Strappy Dress and Spell Lotus Kimono Top.
You’re a woman of many talents with a real creative flair. You sing, you design and you model. Where do you draw your inspiration from?
I grew up in a creative family, so that probably has a lot to do with it! Also, as far back as I can remember I have been a highly sensitive person who is very much tuned in to the sensory world and the emotions of those surrounding me. Creativity – especially music has always been an emotional outlet for me in tough times and also brings me a lot of joy. I find that I tend to channel a lot of my own emotion through singing or drawing and that people really connect with this. So when it comes down to it I guess I really draw my biggest inspiration from human emotion and connection – the idea of bringing people together into a moment where we all appreciate the beauty of something regardless of our every day differences.
How would you describe your style?
I love to mix it up! I like that vintage, grungy street style – ripped jeans, old oversized band tees, leather jackets etc. mixed with a bit of boho – lots of silver gemstone jewellery, boots, big belt buckles, patterned fabrics. I never feel completely comfortable in a super girly outfit (unless I’m at a ball or something!) I always like to add a bit of edginess to my outfits and I’d say I definitely steer more toward casual than formal!
If you could buy only three items for your Winter wardrobe what would they be?
A good pair of boots, black or dark coloured skinny jeans, and living in Orange definitely means a warm jacket is essential!
What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?
Well, let’s just say I’m not the worlds biggest dare devil haha! I haven’t travelled a lot so I think most of my adventures are yet to come. I’m not really sure if this was the most adventurous thing I’ve done but it was pretty funny! I went to the snow with my friends who all had experience in skiing and snowboarding. I tried my hand at skiing for the first time and was super unco but I wanted to keep up with everyone so I decided to go down a steeper run on my second go. As soon as I got up the top of the run I knew it wasn’t going to end well – I was trying to slow down by doing a snowplough but started sliding down backwards and ended up tangled in the safety netting separating the runs. After I got myself free I slid down the rest of the way on my bum and sat in the bar until my friends came back! I decided that day that tackling the Snowies wasn’t for me – I definitely prefer the beach over the snow. I’d like to try my hand at surfing one day so hopefully I’m a little more successful with that!
Describe yourself in three words.
Creative, honest, loyal
